Progress Update from Doc's Recovery House

After opening our doors in February 2019, we recently celebrated the first of many milestones at Doc’s Recovery House— we’ve officially been open for 6 months.

Over the past several months, we’ve had the honor of serving more than 54 male residents in our housing programs, both those waiting to obtain placement in a residential treatment center and those who have graduated from treatment and joined our long-term recovery housing program.  Since opening our doors earlier this year:

  • 54 male clients have been served through both pre- and post-treatment programs

  • 31 residents were successfully placed in residential treatment programs

  • 6 pre-treatment alumni have returned to Doc’s Recovery House for long-term housing

  • 7 residents have graduated our 90-day recovery housing program

  • 10 residents are currently in our 90-day recovery housing program

Throughout these past several months, we’ve seen the numerous ways recovery has changed the lives of our residents, all fathers, sons, brothers, neighbors and community members. Their stories have exemplified hope and continue to reiterate what we know to be true: That recovery is absolutely and undeniably possible.

Every day at Doc’s Recovery House, we see our residents put one step in front of the other and make the next right decision for their recovery. It is their unique journey and our great honor to be able to walk alongside them, offering housing and peer support along the way.

In addition to our core housing programs, we are honored to announce we have partnered with the Rochester Police Department in the Police-Assisted Recovery (PAR) Program, an initiative that offers connection to substance use disorder treatment and recovery support from law enforcement officers. In this partnership, Doc’s Recovery House provides housing, peer recovery support and treatment coordination for those who choose to participate.

We are also pleased to announce we have formally obtained membership with the Association of Recovery Community Organizations, led by Faces & Voices of Recovery in Washington D.C. Our affiliation with this network allows us to focus on our broader goal of building community and enhancing the resources available for recovery support in our region.

WHAT’S AHEAD

Moving forward, we are pleased to announce the opening of a second recovery house on September 1st. The facility will be an extended care step-down house for our men’s program alumni that will expand our capacity for recovery housing and peer support.

We also continue to work towards opening our women’s house, a home that would offer pre- and post-treatment housing for up to 16 women. We have the house selected and are currently raising funds to operate the program and open our doors in early 2020. To contribute to this goal, please consider making a tax-deductible donation here.

IN GRATITUDE

As we celebrate this milestone and the work we’ve accomplished so far, we also recognize our work would not be possible without the support of individual donors, private foundations and generous grantmakers. We’re grateful for the contributions we’ve received from Recovery Rendezvous and the Edina Realty Foundation, in addition to Mayo Clinic, who has played a vital role in sustaining the early work of our innovative pre-treatment housing program, the first of its kind in the state of Minnesota.

From our leadership team and board of directors, we’d like to offer the community our sincere gratitude for your support, feedback and guidance during the earliest days of our organization’s history. We look forward to our continued service of those pursuing recovery and the greater recovery community in Rochester.

Thank you for your partnership and support.
