One Step At A Time:
Mental Health Month Walking Challenge
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and this year, Doc's Recovery House is inviting Rochester to get outside, take care of your mind, and walk for recovery.
One Step at a Time is a community walking challenge where every mile matters. Walk, run, or hike throughout May — on your own or with a group of friends.
For every mile our community walks, our sponsor Alerus donates $1 to Doc's Recovery House, up to $2,000. All funds support recovery housing for individuals rebuilding their lives right here in Southeast Minnesota.
91% of our residents at Doc's Recovery House have a co-occurring mental health diagnosis alongside substance use disorder. We see every day how movement transforms recovery — it eases anxiety, builds confidence and community, and builds a new, healthy routine.
Something as simple as a daily walk can change a life. Including yours.

Where do your miles go?
Nationally, only 10% of people who want to enter treatment for substance use disorder actually make it. At Doc's Recovery House, 90% of our pre-treatment residents successfully transition to treatment.
Your participation helps make that possible…by funding safe housing, daily meals, 24/7 peer recovery support, and the everyday experiences that help people rebuild their lives and their minds. Every step you take is a step toward someone's recovery from substance use and mental health.
